Some of you may remember a while back my brother, Gareth, rescued a female degu from P@H Adoption Centre after she was beaten up by all the other degus and nobody wanted to take her home. Gaz named her Nicole and looked after her very well, giving her all the love and attention she hadn't had previously. Unfortunately, Gaz's circumstances changed a couple of months back and he was offered a job working nights in a hotel. He started spending more and more time at work and less and less time with Nicole. I popped in to see him one day and he burst in to tears because he was so worried he'd have to give her up. So, what else could I do? rolleyes.gif That weekend, Nicole moved in with Adam and I.

After living out her quarantine in our bedroom, Nicole moved in to the chin room, where she shouts profanities to the boys in the nearest cage (luckily Wilbur and Kipling are not of a sensitive nature and tend to look more bemused than offended!). We invested in a proper degu cage from John Hopewell, as well as a wheel for Nicole. That wheel was the best forty quid I ever spent - she loves it! You can see her little cage set up below.

She has a big ladder, a lovely little house and a very gay Shamoo Hammocky Hammock, which she adores! lovestruck.gif

And here is the lady Nicole herself! Isn't she a beauty?

She raised one of her front paws up a bit as I took the photo, so it kind of looks like she's waving. Nicole would also like to say a big, big thank you to her Auntie Trish for going to such an effort to source her favourite food, Degu Science Selective. Trish now stocks it in her shop along with James Wellbeloved Senior Cat Food and Catsan Smart Pack cat litter, which were requests from my cats, Sugar and Spice. Many thanks Trish! biggrin.gif

Aww Sara she looks very at home and I suspect she will have not just you trained but the chins will realise just who is the boss in that room! laugh2.gif

Awww Nicole, one of my very favourite customers!!! lovestruck.gif Sorry to hear that Gareth couldn't look after her anymore, but it looks like she is a very happy little girl. I hope she soon settles in her new home, it's Degu paradise! biggrin.gif

She's a beauty lovestruck.gif I love her cage set up. Our boys have a large digging pit under their cage, but it's a real trial to clear it out, and don't get me started on what we find buried in there! We often ponder about changing their set up so I will show himself your cage and see what he thinks crossfingers.gif

Glad she likes her hammock, no matter what I try with our boys they seem set in a pattern of seek, destroy, bury - demand another rolleyes.gif

Lol, Nicole is something of a digger too! When she first moved in, Wilbur very kindly gave her his HH corner bed and she loved it! Little did I know she was nibbling a hole in it and storing things in there - food, hay, wooden chew toys, the odd poo - you name it, it went in there! At the end of the week I went to clean out her cage, picked up the corner bed, and was nearly sick when the contents of her 'hoard' fell out! sick.gif In the end I had to throw out the corner bed - Nicole was furious! Now she has her gay Shamoo hammock and we're both a lot happier. Nicole is happy because she has somewhere soft to sit and I'm happy because she can't hide anything in it! rolleyes.gif
