We had a little heat wave this weekend (80 degrees Fahrenheit) and our only air conditioned room (so far) is the bedroom. . .soooo . . . we moved Ajax to our bedroom Friday in anticipation of the heat. He's a bit loud at night, but my husband doesn't seem to mind and since I wear earplugs anyway, it's working out quite well so far.

We were going to move him into his playroom (our office) when we put an air conditioner in that room (which we're doing this week), but now that we've tried the bedroom, I think we may leave him where he is for the summer! It's a more efficient use of energy, since we can have just the one air conditioner going & all THREE of us can enjoy it all night.

We will have to air condition the office for playtime, for sure - I had him out for a quick run last night, but JUST long enough to have a dustbath and chew an icecube , and then it was back in the cage for him. The weather is still quite hot.

One note in case it's helpful for others - I think I'm a tad allergic to his hay - but since he's positioned across the room from where I sleep (near the foot of the bed) it's been absolutely fine. I would hesitate to put a chinchilla cage near my face while sleeping, though!

It's been very warm here for April but thankfully not too warm and the temperature has dropped a good deal this week.

Hopefully a heatwave will hold off here until my new backdoor with adaptions for aircon vent, makes an appearance, I've had to part company with builder no 1 and find someone who will actually get on with the job sooner rather than 5 months of 'oh yes I must do that'

Well I should think so. . . 5 months!!! That is FAR too long for something to sit on a to-do list!

Heat wave over, at least temporarily. We had 80-90 F weather for 3 dadys (thank god for cental air) but now it's back in the 50's again

Yes, it's much more reasonable outside today - but he is staying in the bedroom, just in case.

I did have fun sitting on the patio with a friend on Monday and pretending it was full summer, I must admit! But now it's spring again.
