When I got my chins yesterday I just put my hands round and picked it up but now iv read your supposed to get hold of base of tail then put one hand under chin chest and lift.Also read you can hurt chin if not picked up in this way but then read that there tails can fall off.Help please now scared to pick up n case I hurt them or have tails fall off.

Holding the base of the tail is just added security should they suddenly jump from your arms.
The tail can break if you hold it at the end but as long as you hold the base that is fine.
I pick mine up by sliding my hand under the front legs and belly and then gently lifting them and if I have a jumpy or skitty one then I do hold the base of the tail too.
The important thing to remember is not to restrict the chin or they will struggle,they are prey animals so if they feel trapped they will try to escape.
Remember also if you have only just got your chin he/she will need some quiet time just to settle in to the new surroundings.

Thanks for that.I know they need time to settle but I had to put them into new cage.I put them im through the top and the escaped out of the bottom. .I didnt shut the door lol. Just need to find names for them.
