I better go back to before xmas, Dee had a bright pink nose and lots of nose wiping we went for a check up, as it went on for a week or so, and her chest was clear smile.gif The cold disappeared and that was that smile.gif
Snowy's nose has been pink but then he will stick it through the bars rolleyes.gif but this morning he was snuffly so I made him an appointment along with Lucky.
Lucky was seen first and Jenny noticed straight away she has a cold sad.gif they are both on baytril twice a day. Jenny say's it must be a bacterial rather than viral infection (hope I've got that round the right way unsure.gif ) so I've to keep a close eye on the rest.
Timing is some ways is good because I am on holiday this week BUT I was due to fly to Selena's tonight for a couple of days real chinwagging, now cancelled because a) I can't leave mine and b ) I don't want to risk spreading it to Selena's. I was also going to decorate 'our' room over the rest of the week, to this end I have already started to strip wallpaper off. Not advisable to paint now lol. Oh joy 2006 doesn't seem to have started well at all for many of us

Thats a real shame Margaret!
How can chins catch a cold then and what are the symptoms for it?
I do hope you can re-arrange your trip to Selena's at a more convenient time.
You must be well annoyed with all this going on and 2006 is not even 3 weeks old!
I will send you, Lucky and Snowy positive thoughts...
Hope all will be much better in a couple of days, so maybe you can visit Selena towards the end of the week. hug4.gif

Lol, Snowy could def do with some tissues wipes his nose on his sleeve he does rolleyes.gif
How I don't know, with Dee I'd moved their cages and wondered if she'd been in a draught Dunno.gif
Symptoms, well in my white chins very pink sore noses and lots of nose wipes, Snowy sounded a bit Snuffly which is why he came to the vets too. In Lucky who's grey a puffy nose plus lots of nose wiping. I haven't heard any sneezes.
I'm going to keep a good eye on Dill, he's not really himself at the moment

Very sorry to hear about Snowy and Lucky Margaret ......... I wish them a speedy recovery
Awww what a shame you have to cancel your visit to Selena, Margaret hug4.gif
I hope it can be rescheduled in the not too distant future so you both get the chance to catch up and have some quality time together hug4.gif
For what its worth, I think we would all do the same Margaret, so having said that, I hope Snowy and Lucky make a full recovery

Sadly there is no chance of another reunion until next year, I only get the chance to take one week off a year, before you feel sorry for me that's one week more than my brother gets!
I'm kinda hoping that I can paint a bit over the Easter weekend I've continued with the wallpaper stripping, at least it will look as though I am in the middle of decorating rather than a chinny chewed wallpaper mess unsure.gif
Snowy is a little 'B' to dose, have to wrap him in a towel it's the only way laugh2.gif Lucky by comparison is a little poppet, but then she has had lots of practise. Good news is I think she is eating a bit more for herself

Lucky's nose is looking much better, she's accepting treats and generally more comfortable I think

I tried to take a photo but managed to miss her nose totally
Snowy poor lad has a very sore looking nose. though not quite as bad as the photo looks

He's feeling very sorry for himself.
Would something in the room (like they use for babies with colds) help him does anyone know?

awww, Margaret, that looks very sore, poor lad....
Unfortunately I dont know what will be good for their colds as I didnt even know they could get them..
But maybe some vaseline on his sore nosey nose?
Isnt vaseline all natural? I am NOT sure or maybe some homeopathic cream to sooth that nose...
Homeopathic cant be wrong I think as thats all natural so when they accidently eat it or lick it- it wont do them harm... Id ask the vet and see what he/she says in any case just to be sure...
Good luck! wave6.gif

Poor snowy 1luvu.gif his nose does look sore, bless him
Hope Lucky is feeling a little better today as well.
Yes, M you can burn eucalyptus or olbas on a tissue near the cage- it will help them

They both had the same reaction to eating in the wee small hours, which was swallow and make strange movements, I wondered if they have sore throats?
Being a walking disaster zone this year I decided burning tissue wasn't wise so I treated them to an electric vaporiser.could be my imagination but I think it's helped Snowy a bit, I caught him at the hayrack

Onwards and upwards little by little Margaret smile.gif
I SWEAR your lot have been in cahoots this week - did you spot them having a wee confab at all before you started packing to come visit me?

Whilst Lucky's cold improved and her dribbling stopped her appetite worsened and yesterday all she would eat were tiny bites of fruit. She sat in her bed and didn't come forward for anything sad.gif Her eyes have been half shut as if in pain.
We went to the vets today and both agreed it was fairer to put her to sleep. Jenny felt very confidant, because of her abscess and the fact that the spurs found have always been tiny that there is a very strong likelihood she has root problems, though they have never shown up on xrays.
I will do a memorial for her, later.
RIP Lucky you have been a real fighter we'll miss you lots tears.gif
Margaret
ps Snowy came too, his chest is clear we think he's just sulking because of the Baytril wink3.gif
