Dill's my baby (2 and a half) a little live wire, he can jump where no chin is supposed to go, wiggle like an eel if held and generally dash around like a mad chin.

For several weeks now he's been quiet, he did lose a little weight, nothing to really worry about. He's eyes are bright, he's eating and pooing as normal just not his normal naughty self. I even seperated him and Daisy for a night lest she was bullying him. I've kept a very close eye on his nose but no signs of a cold at all.

Anyhow last night I noticed while his spine seemed to stick out his tummy was very round, this morning ditto. I booked an appointment for tomorrow evening. Came home this pm to him looking for a treat as normal but I still feel something isn't right. There's no sign of discomfort such as stretching which I believe is a sign of bloat. Basically he is just much quieter than normal eating and pooing normally but with a rather large hardish tummy

We haven't been yet, just boasting about how cooperative my boy is wink3.gif

Speaking to Sue last night she thought knowing whether he was peeing normally and taking a urine sample would be a good idea, not easy as he shares a cage with Daisy.

Well I popped him in the carrier, popped that on a tray (on the off chance) and before I could turn round he'd performed like a goodun, I've got 1ml sample to take with us smile.gif

He's actually brighter today and I don't think his tummy is so big Dunno.gif

Will let you know how he gets on

Too true, she said if he was a dog, with those results on his sample, he'd be kept in as an emergency but as he's a chin his urine is perfectly normal smile.gif

I tried I really did but I cannot remember all the technical words thrown at me blush.gif He has a 'pocket of air' in his ilium, a non obstructive 'something or other', if he wasn't eating and pooing it would be a lot more serious but he is so two injections later and he should be right as rain within 24 hours smile.gif

I feel better already and Dill is working on it

Touch wood I think we are getting there, tuesday night he def had more energy, last night he was quiet again but tonight while out he managed to get into some mischief (that's my boy). His tummy is still big, but ngood to see him with a bit of energy smile.gif We've an appointment for tomorrow evening it would be nice if we could cancel it smile.gif but unless his tummy goes down I don't think we will be

He was much brighter tonight and his tummy softer biggrin.gif He still has a small pocket of gas in there so he's had another Metoclopramide injection to help clear that but all in all he's a lot brighter.

Though he's not a fur chewer he does get 'fur tufts' we are wondering if he has been ingesting some and it's built up in him. Jenny doesn't recommend the cat 'fur ball' remedies for chins as they are liquid parafin based, so it's back to the papaya for us all (Lucky was on fresh Papaya and we all shared some, I stopped buying it when we lost her) or he can have pineapple. He's also going to have to learn to like a groom from me wink3.gif

So fingers crossed he should be back to normal soon now.

I believe exercise is also good for the digestion, Dill was the only one to use the wheel but it made the cage rattle so much my neighbour complained at the noise blush.gif Anyway I've now fitted it in Lucky's old cage (wooden so it shouldn't shake) and I think I'll try the D's in that cage when it's ready for reoccupation.
